International Deafblind Day & Awareness Week 22 – 28 June 2025
June 24, 2024 - June 30, 2024
Free
We are delighted to share an important milestone for the global Deafblind community.
The United Nations (UN) General Assembly has officially announced 27th June as the International Day of Deafblindness, beginning in 2025. This historic recognition follows years of advocacy and highlights the need for greater inclusion, awareness, and support for people who are deafblind around the world.
This announcement arrives at a meaningful time as we approach Deafblind Awareness Week, which will be held from 22nd to 28th June 2025.
This is a special time to recognise and celebrate the Deafblind community across Australia. This week honours the birthday of the remarkable Helen Keller on 27th June, with this year’s theme ‘Touch to Connect’, shining a light on the unique ways Deafblind people engage with the world.
National Highlight – 24th June
A national webinar will be held on Monday, 24th June, featuring a panel of Deafblind speakers and a parent of a deafblind child. This important event is designed to support and inform, and will be attended by medical and allied health professionals and students.
