Who we are

Listen to this article

Deafblind Australia is a not-for-profit advocacy and membership-based organisation. As the only organisation that advocates for Deafblind people at a national level, we are also a peak body.

We are a small but growing team of committed Deafblind people and advocates located all around the country. We work alongside Deafblind community groups in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.

Our history

We started as The Australian DeafBlind Council, which was set up following the National Deafblind Conference in Melbourne in 1993. We became Deafblind Australia in 2018.

How we’re funded

Deafblind Australia depends on membership subscriptions, donations and financial support from several other organisations providing services to people with deafblindness to do the work we do.

We also receive Federal Government funding to support our work.
